Skull Bomb | Through the Month

This project is based on one of Becca Hallstedt's concept job she did for Injustice 2's character Scarecrow. Here work can be found here: https://www.artstation.com/beccahallstedt

Week 4: Render Here a Render There

Here we are after a few more touch ups here and there and giving the skull a bit of visual contrast and story its time to call it a wrap. I do wish i knew how to make the plume of smoke, but maybe that will be another adventure for another day. Becoming more and more proud of the work that i am producing even learning from class to class and improving and not making the same mistakes as before. Here is to another month down and a new adventure in only a few days,

Week 3: "It Looks Pretty Cool"

What to use that does not make this go into crazy unbelievable territory? Being minimal and subtle in my opinion. A lot of the materials are strong on there own especially the bone material that I have used, but i wanted to give the skill a little more age. So, I used a moss material and with the help of a black mask allowed me to expose areas that felt subtle and reasonable for moss to grow on the human skull. To give a little more character I gave the previous owner a golden tooth. Cliche possibly, but again angering someone to throw skulls at you becomes crazy enough doesn't it?

Week 2: The Trouble of Millions to Thousands

Making the Game Res Mesh from Zbrush was a completely new experience for me in actually doing compared to just watching a video of how to Use Zremesher. 5 Million poly count down to 50k before what I had become a mess. Maybe i needed to merge everything and try again with the tool to create a more desired visual before taking it into Maya to be UVed and then in Substance Painter to make my Normal, Ambient Occlusion, and Curvature. That being said i wouldn't be here if I new everything as a student would I?

Week 1: The High Res Sculpt begins.

For the first week I needed to create the high res sculpt for my prop. For this and my current comfort level of workflow i started in Maya 2017 to make a very basic base creating a generic half of the skull knowing that ill be creating more detail in Zbrush. Going forward I would want to work on making everything in Zbrush to streamline my workflow.
